Join leaders in care and research at Canada’s largest stroke event
In BC we’re proud of the level of stroke care we provide to patients. Since Stroke Services BC was formed in April 2011, we’ve made vast improvements to ensure all British Columbians have rapid access to the care they need, when they need it.
In addition to providing exceptional care, our stroke team also participates in research and education activities to further expand their knowledge in this important area of care.
This year, the fifth annual Canadian Stroke Congress is being held in Vancouver from October 4 to 7, 2014. Stroke Services BC is collaborating with the Heart & Stroke Foundation to plan the event. PHSA President & CEO Carl Roy will be opening the congress.
The congress provides an unparalleled opportunity to access national and provincial leaders in the delivery of stroke care and research and stroke experts from across the province will be attending. The Congress is endorsed by the World Stroke Organization and brings together experts from around the world to advance stroke research, prevention, care and recovery.
This internationally recognized educational forum promises to deliver yet another world-class meeting for all stroke professionals including researchers, clinicians, physicians, nurses, therapists and policymakers. Registrants can expect high-quality science and education through plenary sessions, lively debates, clinical trial updates, interactive workshops and more.
National courses on rehabilitation and nursing are also being held in conjunction with the Stroke Congress. New this year are two streams of programming in the National Stroke Course – one for neurologists, neurology trainees and other specialists interested in stroke, and the other for primary care and emergency physicians. The 2014 Hnatyshyn Lecture delivered by Dr. Carol Richards from the Université Laval will focus on stroke rehabilitation. Visit strokecongress.ca for more on the Congress’s preliminary program.
