Clean Shots trophy now in our hands

In May we shared the exciting news that VCH was crowned the most photohygienic in the Clean Shots photo contest. On July 15, Mary Ackenhusen, President & CEO, accepted the coveted Clean Shots trophy on behalf of you, our staff who submitted the most selfies, photobombs and friendies of any other BC health authority.

Over 1000 total photos were submitted, and VCH beat the Provincial Health Services Authority by one entry! Check out the photos – including the judges’ favourites. The judges also chose the photo “Hand Hygiene Angels,”submitted by our very own Alda Lo, a registered nurse at UBC Hospital, as the most creative entry.

“We are so proud to have won the very first Clean Shots competition. Clean Shots was an opportunity for staff to have fun, be creative and raise awareness about hand hygiene, which has a direct impact on quality patient care. At VCH, we know it’s really our staff who make the difference in hand hygiene, so it’s wonderful to see them recognized for their enthusiasm and hard work,” Ackenhusen said.

“Congratulations to Vancouver Coastal Health, Alda, and everyone who submitted entries to Clean Shots,” said Doug Cochrane, Chair of the BC Patient Safety & Quality Council and Provincial Patient Safety & Quality Officer. “It’s great to see so much creativity and enthusiasm used to start conversations about hand hygiene and help people have fun at work, too.”
