Attention physicians: final opportunity for EMR post-implementation support (MU3)

The General Practice Services Committee (GPSC) is funding a final opportunity for BC family physicians to take advantage of EMR post-implementation support in order to reach Meaningful Use level 3 (MU3).  The deadline to apply is September 30, 2014. All family physicians who are on an EMR, including doctors working in walk-in clinics, locums and specialized practices such as maternity care, are eligible to participate.

At MU3, family physicians will find that their EMR can:
• Improve office efficiency and care for patients
• Allow physicians to establish registries of patients with chronic conditions to be identified, recalled and optimally managed
• Enhance practice management processes by identifying patients whose care triggers eligibility for incentive fees
• Attract locums and new physicians because patients’ past histories, medications, allergies, management plans, chronic disease information and more are all readily accessible on the EMR
• Offer system-wide benefits, such as assisting in population health assessment, patient attachment, and health system integration, among others

Additional advantages provided by post-implementation support once MU3 is obtained are:
• Six Mainpro-C and six bonus Mainpro-M1 credits by the College of Family Physicians of Canada
• $3,000 sessional fee to cover training time

To apply, email emrsupport@doctorsofbc.ca with your clinic name and the name(s) of physician(s) wanting to participate.

Physicians will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis to schedule an initial assessment and receive post-implementation support so it is important to register early, as staff resources are limited.
