Mary Ackenhusen among Canada’s 100 Most Powerful Women
VCH President and CEO Mary Ackenhusen has been named among Canada’s 100 Most Powerful Women by the Women’s Executive Network (WXN). The Top 100 Awards recognize female leaders who have become agents of change in reshaping Canadian organizations at the highest levels.
Mary joins an elite group of Top 100 Award Winners that includes some of Canada’s most iconic women trailblazers such as Dr. Roberta Bondar, astronaut; Arlene Dickinson, chief executive officer of Venture Communications and Dragon’s Den panelist; Christine Magee, president, Sleep Country Canada; Kathleen Taylor, chair of the board, Royal Bank of Canada; and Michaëlle Jean, former governor general of Canada.
Co-Presented by Scotiabank and KPMG, the Top 100 Awards celebrate and highlight professional achievements of women across the country in the private, public and not-for-profit sectors at a time when corporate Canada is undergoing pressure to promote more female leaders into board and executive office positions.
Mary is one of 11 recipients in the Public Sector Leaders category. Others in the same field being honored this year include Andrea Robertson, President & CEO of STARS (Shock Trauma Air Rescue Society) in Alberta; Wendy Tilford, Deputy Minister, Ministry of Economic Development, Trade and Employment; Ministry of Research and Innovation, Ontario; Laurie Poole, VP, Telemedicine Solutions, Ontario Telemedicine Network; and Sharon Carry, President & CEO, Bow Valley College, Alberta.
