Recognizing our staff and volunteers

February marked the return of the Annual Employee and Volunteer Recognition Events across VCH. A series of recognition events are held across VCH to honour employees, volunteers and physicians, who, in the 2014 calendar year, reached a milestone of 10 or more years of continuous service with VCH. Celebrating these dedicated individuals, who contribute to our success, is one of the many ways that Vancouver Coastal Health is putting People First.

Each event is emceed by a Senior Leader and consists of a ceremony, pin presentation and reception. Some of the directors join in the fun by dressing in an apron and serving cake and snacks to the recipients. These celebratory events also create a great opportunity for team members to meet and interact with colleagues that they wouldn’t otherwise have a chance to meet during their work day.

In 2014, over 1600 people reached a continuous service milestone of 10 or more years, including 28 people with more than 40 years of continuous employment. We also had over 50 volunteers recognized; 2 of these volunteers reached the incredible milestone of 55 years of service!

We would like to thank all those individuals who help to make these events a success and we look forward to supporting this opportunity for employees and volunteers to come together, share stories, renew friendships and celebrate their commitment to delivering outstanding healthcare.

More information on the Employee Recognition Programs is available on the Management Development section of VCH Connect.

I am so happy to see that you are continuing to have the Employee Recognition events. I attended & so enjoyed my 25 & 30 year recognition event here @ U.B.C. & was so looking forward to my 35 year event. But sadly when I arrived @ my 35 years in 2013 the event was cancelled due to lack of employees signing up for that event. So instead I was only given my pin & Rose Chocolate by Charlies Chocolates by my manager without being able to share it with other colleegues. So I am happy to hear that others are still able to benefit from this festive occasion. I retired in Aug. 2013 after 35 1/2 years @ Coastal Health but am still working temporary/ part-time position & casual as I so enjoy my work here.
    Keep up the celebrations.
