Baby Friendly Initiative includes CT and Interventional Radiology
Medical Imaging is working to align with the World Health Organization and Health Canada’s recommendations to become more Baby Friendly. Current science and safety literature supports continued breastfeeding after intravascular iodinated contrast injections in CT and Interventional Radiology. Now, women can be reassured that they can safely continue to breastfeed their babies without interruption. Medical Imaging and a Maternal and Fetal Clinical Pharmacist collaborated to develop guidelines based on current evidence. This information has now been shared with all four lower mainland health authorities: Fraser Health, Providence Healthcare, Provincial Health Services and Vancouver Coastal Health.
But we are not done yet! There is more to come in the near future.
