As announced in late February, Compass Group is moving forward with the hiring process for housekeeping staff currently employed by Aramark at Vancouver Coastal Health and Providence Health Care sites.

Compass has a multi-faceted approach to the hiring process. A website is available for housekeeping staff to receive information updates, pose questions and learn more about Compass and its employment opportunities. Job fairs were also held throughout the month of March and early April in sites across VCH and PHC.

First wave of employment offers

To date, Compass leaders have interviewed 778 incumbent housekeepers who have applied for jobs with Compass. As well, they met with 40 internal incumbent housekeeping manager and supervisor applicants. The next steps are to review references before providing offers of employment.

The Compass team would like to thank the many employees of VCH and PHC who have provided references for these applicants. Over the coming weeks they will be reaching out to those references with a goal to have the first wave of offers of employment distributed in early May.

Additional job fairs will be scheduled in mid-summer for external applicants.

When will the change to Compass take place?

The transition to Compass Group for environmental services across 30 VCH/PHC owned and operated acute and residential care sites will take place in four phases:

• Coastal sites: Beginning August 10, 2015
• Providence Health Care sites: Beginning August 24, 2015
• Richmond/Vancouver sites: Beginning September 7, 2015
• UBC Hospital and VGH: Beginning September 21, 2015
