ASPIRES team picks up HEABC award
On June 22, several individuals and teams were given BC Health Care Awards (HEABC), honouring them as the best in BC’s publicly funded health care community. Some of those winners were from VCH including the ASPIRES Antimicrobial Stewardship Programme. Part of the Four Cornerstones, ASPIRES is a regional team brought together to implement new strategies to reduce health-care associated infections and optimize anti-infective treatments – the team was recognized with the Award of Merit in the Collaborative Solutions category.
ASPIRES works with physicians, pharmacists, nurses, and other health-care professionals to promote appropriate anti-infective use and improve patient outcomes region-wide at Lions Gate Hospital, Richmond Hospital and Vancouver General Hospital. Since January 2015, they have also begun to explore how they can expand our support to Coastal and Rural sites. They are currently establishing antimicrobial stewardship working groups at these rural sites and identifying their needs, so that ASPIRES can act as a resource to develop local guidelines and other initiatives.
Please congratulate them in the comments section below.
