The N95 respirator model 3M 1870 is changing to model 3M Aura 1870+
• To ensure smooth transition, the new 3M Aura 1870+ will be transitioned in over a one year period.
• Fit-testing on the 3M 1870+ will commence on August 1, 2015.

What is the differnce between the 3M 1870 and the 3M AURA 1870+?

Both the 3M 1870 and the 3M Aura 1870+ provide an equivalent level of protection. The Aura 1870+ appears very similar to the 1870, but is NOT interchangeable; employees must be fit tested before use.

What do you need to do?

Users: Continue to use only the N95 Respirator you were fit tested to. If you are currently fit tested to the 3M 1870, you will have access to this model until your fit test expires.

Caution: the 3M 1870 and 3M Aura 1870+ look very similar; check before use.

Managers: Maintain supply of both 3M 1870 and 3M Aura 1870+ during the transition period (August 1, 2015 – July 31, 2016). 3M 1870 respirators will not be available for ordering as of August 1, 2016. Ensure all 1870 stock is phased out of your units by August 1, 2016.

Fit testers: Stop using the 3M 1870 and begin using the 3M Aura 1870+ for fit testing as of August 1, 2015.
