Walk with me?

Walking is good for you. In fact, evidence shows that it’s GREAT for you! And a simple half-hour walk at lunch can cover a third of the recommended 10,000 steps per day. Add a friendly colleague and you’ve got an easy, free activity that is beneficial for your stress relief and overall emotional well-being.

But what if you don’t have someone to walk with? What if your staff lounge or break area has comfy sofas or chairs that people gravitate into automatically? With more and more people spending their lunch time staring into smartphones, it is getting pretty easy to sit still all day long.

But this sitting habit is worth breaking. And with Walktober just a few weeks away, we want to encourage more staff to not let a single day go by without at least a short walk.

Share your story: what have you done to create a walking group in your area? How did you entice non-walkers to get up and join you for a walk?
