Silver Leaf Award for communications team

Vancouver Coastal Health’s award-winning communications team has done it again! Congratulations to Maile Conwi, Rennie Brown, Gen Handley and Laurie Dawkins on winning IABC Canada Silver Leaf Awards for their work on the new People First Awards program launched earlier this year.

Laurie IABC Calgary

Laurie Dawkins, director of corporate communications was invited to deliver a masters talk on the award-winning project at the IABC Western Conference in Calgary.

The group won an Award of Excellence in the Communications Skills category for Special Events while Maile and Laurie picked up an additional Award of Merit in the Communications Management category for Employee Engagement. IABC evaluators had high praise for the way our communication materials candidly acknowledged past challenges with meaningful recognition, how the work was tied to larger organizational goals around developing the best workforce, and how we used this program to simultaneously brand our new CEO as a people-focused leader.

While the project had a handful of people front and centre, several team Communications members were involved in many ways to make a difference and contribute to this success.

Congratulations to Maile, Rennie, Gen and Laurie and the entire Communications & Public Affairs team on this recognition!
