Investing in you—our greatest resource

Vancouver Coastal Health is investing in you—our greatest resource. Part of that investment is providing services that contribute to your health and wellness, and a healthy workplace that everyone can benefit from. Take advantage of the services below and celebrate Healthy Workplace Month!

Free training

Did you know Workplace Health offered free courses for  staff? Year-end is a good time to ensure you have completed your health and safety related education such as MSIP Coach training, Fit testing, Violence Prevention, Infection Prevention and Control/Hand Hygiene Basics, and check your immunization status. For more information on your education completion status log into the CCRS  and click “My Training History.”

Immunizations

Immunization and clinic information is available on the Workplace Health intranet page. Direct questions to WorkplaceHealth@vch.ca.

Employee and family assistance

The Employee and Family Assistance Program (EFAP) offers a variety of team workshops and individual counselling and wellness services to support your own work life balance. Areas of focus include Health & Wellness, Relationships & Family, and Career & Work. Team workshops must be requested through your manager. For more information, visit the EFAP website  or email simone.riml@efap.ca.

The Employee Discount program offers special pricing to VCH employees for various health and wellness services including gym passes, spas, physio and more! Corporate gym passes to Steve Nash Fitness World, YMCA Health and Fitness Centre, and Trevor Linden Fitness  and She’s Fit are available for as low as $14.99 a month!  Access the entire package of employee perks on our VCH Staff Discounts page on VCH Connect.

Fitness Centre at VGH

For staff who work in the Vancouver area, a fitness and wellness centre and cycling centre is available on-site at VGH. For more information check out our Health Promotion page on VCH connect.

Respectful workplace

Studies show that people perform better and are more positive and less stressed when they work in an environment where respect is a high priority. Learn about contributing to a respectful workplace and complete with the Respectful Workplace Online Video Education on CCRS. The fun and interactive module can be reviewed in 20 minutes or less on your desktop, iPad, or smartphone. If you witness or experience bullying, harassment or disrespectful behaviour, report it immediately to your Manager or call the confidential No-Bully line at 1-844-662-8559. More information on workplace bullying is available on VCH Connect.

Healthy commuting

VCH encourages employees to use active and sustainable transportation modes. This can help cut down on stress and potentially provide some great exercise! More information on your commute-to-work options can be found on the Commuter Services page on VCH Connect.

Thank you for contributing to a healthy healthcare workplace. If you have any questions about VCH’s health and wellness services, please email EmployeeEngagementInquiries@vch.ca.
