Message from the CEO: Changes to the Senior Executive Team

As your President and CEO, I am always looking at ways to strengthen how VCH provides service and supports the people we serve. That extends to how your Senior Executive Team (SET) supports the organization. Based on recent discussions regarding our strategic directions, I have made the following portfolio changes for some SET members. These changes only impact their areas of responsibility, not their positions on the senior team.

Paul Brownrigg, Vice-President of CST and Innovation, will assume responsibility for Lower Mainland Medical Imaging from Glen Copping. This change reflects Paul’s expertise and professional background in the medical imaging field, having led such services and initiatives in Canada and the UK. Among that experience was as project director for the eHealth Connecting Diagnostic Imaging program which developed the platform for sharing medical images across BC. Paul is also taking on a new responsibility as the executive lead for introducing innovation – particularly digital solutions – into VCH. This role will see him develop a strategic framework for the assessment, piloting and spread of promising initiatives which will be important as VCH looks to a future in which our population will expect us to adopt modern technologies as a means to better connect with patients while improving the quality and efficiency of care.

Glen Copping, Chief Financial Officer and VP of Systems Development and Performance, will take on responsibility for VCH’s Residential Care and Home Support strategies from Mike Nader. Glen’s experience in patient flow improvement and bringing out the best in large, multi-disciplinary teams will be invaluable as we shape the future of these important components of our integrated health system.

Mike Nader, Chief Operating Officer – Coastal, will provide leadership to the implementation of the Clinical & Systems Transformation (CST) at the Coastal sites which will be the first to implement this transformative initiative. Mike has extensive experience in clinical and systems change and was the executive sponsor for CST when the program was initiated in 2013. He has held numerous other leadership positions within VCH including Executive Director for Clinical Support Services, Regional Director of Medical Imaging, and Regional Director of Laboratory Medicine Redesign.

These adjustments to SET portfolios will continue to propel VCH forward as a leader of innovative change and Paul, Glen and Mike will connect with their respective leaders and teams to discuss their new portfolios and strategies. Please join me in thanking them for taking on these roles and I encourage you to support them and their teams moving ahead.
