Richmond Lions Manor Bridgeport staff gathered for a pink pop-up party

Celebrating Pink Shirt Day!

Thank you to the many staff and physicians that teamed up on Pink Shirt Day, February 24, to celebrate how far we’ve come in building a culture of respect at VCH.

“I am so proud of the many engaged teams who have come together to take a stand against bullying this Pink Shirt Day by participating in team contests and t-shirt sales, and proudly wearing your VCH pink shirts in support of Team Respect,” said Anne Harvey, Vice President of Employee Engagement.

Pink pop-up parties

Over the month of February, the winning teams of the Pink Shirt Design Contest gathered for a series of pink pop-up parties after having their team respect statement selected to appear on this year’s pink shirt.

Building team respect

Laura Clark-Macdonnell, PCC for the Bone Marrow Transplant Program at VGH, explains the impact of the pink pop-up party in encouraging a culture of respect within the team, “The team on T15 L/BMT have embraced the spirit of the pop-up party and extended it throughout the month of February! We have posted pictures from the party and motivational posters all over the unit with slogans specific to our workplace, Let’s Blast Out Bullying! We’ve also been wearing our pink shirts ever since the party.”

Mil Ong, Resident Care Coordinator at Richmond Lions Manor Bridgeport, shared a photo of the team (below) explaining that, “The Pink Party served as a way for our staff to get together to show our support and unity as a team. Here at RLMB, we’re like a big family!” Thanks to everyone who participated in the contest and pop-up parties, and for showing us that respect is important at VCH.
