5 questions with a People First nominator: Christina Choung
Are you thinking about nominating a special coworker for the People First Award, but not sure? Would you like to know what it’s like to nominate someone for the award? In this Q&A, we talk to Regional Educator Christina Choung who nominated a People First Award winner last year and what the experience was like.
Who did you nominate?
The Critical Care Outreach Team.
Why did you nominate them?
Because they do great, meaningful work throughout the hospital – reduce the rate of mortality, more timely access to ICU when needed, bring specialized care to those who need it, educate staff throughout the hospital.
Was it a fairly easy process?
It was time-consuming, but understandably so.
How proud were you when they won?
They were the secondary winners but I felt really great that they were formally recognized for their work. I know it lifted the whole team’s spirits.
What does the People First Awards mean to you?
I think it’s great that there’s an avenue by which people can be recognized by their peers for the great work they do in putting patients first. I think it’s a good opportunity to showcase the ways in which VCH is trying to put people first – the people who are nominated are putting people first and the awards are putting staff first.
What is the deadline?
Nominations must be received by midnight on Friday, April 1, 2016.
