Deadline April 25 for Missing Moment draw
As Aristotle put it: “We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence then, is not an act, but a habit.”
In hand hygiene audits at VCH, compliance for the first moment of hand hygiene “Before initial patient/patient environment contact” is 29% lower than the fourth moment “After patient/patient environment contact”.
For March and April we’re challenging you to enter your comment about why the “Before moment” of hand hygiene has lower compliance, and we’ll enter you in the draw for one of two $25 Visa gift cards. Deadline to enter is April 25, 2016. Winners announced in the April 28 VCH News.
We’ve received lots of great comments so far!

I believe it is because everyone is so busy and they forget to think “what would I want” if we all thought about how we would like to be handled in the same situation we would wash our hands or go that extra mile.
Another great idea from Janice, even in our busy lives, if we took a moment to think “what would I want” if it was me or my loved one who was the patient. I’d want to have confidence that my healthcare provider had clean hands…..
