Reminder: Don’t stream the Olympics at work
The 2016 Summer Olympic Games in Rio are well underway and will continue through Sunday, August 21. If you’re like me, you love watching Team Canada compete for gold, but it’s important to remember you should not be streaming the Olympics at work.
In the past, we have noticed quite a large spike in traffic on our hospital networks as staff watched live events at work. These huge network loads can directly impact our ability to access clinical systems and deliver patient care – especially during peak usage times when our Internet connections are already fully utilized.
For this reason, VCH would like to remind you to refrain from streaming Olympic feeds at work. Instead, make plans to watch the Games outside of work hours.
Please note IMITS will monitor our Internet feeds and apply technical remediation if necessary in order to maintain access to our clinical systems.
Thank you for your support. And GO CANADA GO!
