Patient and public engagement: leadership survey results are in!
The results are in! Each year, the Community Engagement team sends out a survey to leadership at Vancouver Coastal Health to measure the organization’s capacity for and culture of patient and public engagement. The survey is an important tool for the Community Engagement team to evaluate engagement activities at VCH and guide our upcoming work.
This year’s responses
This is the fourth year we have sent this survey out and we received 133 responses! Many thanks to those of you who took the time to fill out the survey. Here’s what we heard from you this year:
- We need to increase education and awareness about patient and public engagement.
- We need to engage more diverse populations – in particular rural communities and those who do not speak English.
- We need to prioritize patient and public engagement at an organizational level.
- We need to refine and simplify Community Engagement processes.
- We need to avoid token engagement.
- We need to think beyond engagement to effect change.
You can learn more details from the summary report of the leadership survey which is accessible from VCH computers.
