Chantal Kreviazuk visits patients and staff at VGH
When Canadian singer and songwriter Chantal Kreviazuk contacted VCH Public Affairs and asked to stop by Vancouver General Hospital for a visit, we jumped at the chance. Chantal explained that she had a few spare hours in Vancouver prior to performing at the “The Drum is Calling Festival,” and wanted to give back. Chantal has a connection to VGH. Her brother spent time in the ICU and later at GF Strong. She has nothing but praise for the care he received.
The staff at VGH are amazing. They not only saved my brother’s life, but helped me and my family through a very difficult time.” ~Chantal Kreviazuk
Amazing staff and patients
When you’ve been in the hospital as long as Patricia Restrepo, it begins to feel like your new home. Patricia was admitted to the ICU last September and received a double-lung transplant in March. She has her good days and bad days, and through it all, remains positive, thoughtful and caring.
“She truly has made a difference in the lives of our staff,” says Patient Services Manager Jackson Lam. “Patricia could be having a rough spell, and still write a card to a nurse with a personal “thank you” for the care she received.

Patricia Restrepo was absolutely glowing when Chantal Kreviazuk stopped by for a private performance of “Feels Like Home,” complete with borrowed keyboard from the Music Therapy Program.
Overheard in the ICU: Is that Chantal Kreviazuk?
Is that Chantal Kreviazuk?
When Chantal Kreviazuk walked through the ICU and started singing, staff and visitors whispered “Is that Chantal Kreviazuk?”
It’s definitely not what you expect when you show up for work!
Thank you Chantal for brightening the lives of our patients and taking time to meet our staff.
