The VGH Smoking Cessation Clinic is available to both patients and staff who are struggling to quit smoking. The clinic offers an evidence- based approach delivered by a physician or nurse trained in tobacco dependence treatment. Referrals are accepted from throughout the out-patient system but are not mandatory…..clients can self-refer! Simply call 604-875-4800 (and select option 2) to make an appointment.Read More

Public Health will be surveying North Shore residents beginning this weekend to get a better understanding of the community’s population’s general health and well-being and the child and family friendliness of these communities. Students from North Shore high schools will be volunteering as surveyors at public spaces around the community, such as rec centres, libraries, Safeway stores and Lions Gate Hospital. Residents, aged 18 and older, from North and West Vancouver, Bowen Island, Lions Bay will be surveyed. VCH staff who live in these communities are eligible to complete the survey.
The survey can also be completed online www.vch.ca/northshoresurvey. Fill out the survey and you could win an iPad, Grouse Mountain passes, or a grocery gift card.
A rich data set on victims of domestic violence who presented to VCH Emergency Departments – information that is a legacy from VGH and St Paul’s Hospital unique domestic violence program – has provided the opportunity for a VCH Research study on repeat presenters.Read More
