“While the ousted leaders at the PHS have been criticized for their lavish spending, the public should also be upset with officials within various provincial ministries, B.C. Housing and Vancouver Coastal Health for their lack of oversight in ensuring that our tax dollars were being properly used.”

“I know I don’t trust (Jenny Kwan), and it’s not just for her claim that she previously questioned her estranged husband about who was paying for nearly $35,000 worth of family vacations.

“Why did the government let this go on for so long? Why didn’t they call in the cops? Why are the outgoing executives now in line to receive severance packages?”

“I am on the board of a smaller, not-for-profit agency and I am appalled that there was no financial governance by the previous board of directors and executive director of the Portland Hotel Society.”

NDP MLA Jenny Kwan has assured her party and colleagues that her family has not billed any more vacations to the Portland Hotel Society.

B.C.’s NDP Opposition leader Adrian Dix says his party is still figuring out the terms of caucus member Jenny Kwan’s unpaid leave from the legislature.

“As the legislature convened Monday for its first sitting after the release of two devastating audits of the Portland Hotel Society, speculation abounded about how the New Democratic Party Opposition would handle the controversy.”

“One week ago, this city’s former mayor-turned senator, Larry Campbell, challenged the B.C. government to quit playing games and make public a certain financial review, conducted by KPMG Forensic Inc., and a separate audit performed by Vancouver Coastal Heath, the local health service provider.”

“By the time the province released the audits by B.C. Housing and the Vancouver Coastal Health Authority, PHS co-founders Liz Evans and her husband, Mark Townsend, and their combined $300,000-plus salaries, had been shoved out the door, along with the rest of the board.”
