LGH Mental Health staff draw patient kudos for their support

Hi there, a few months ago I was at my wits end struggling with depression and anxiety. I was having regular panic attacks and was unable to function with everyday tasks. I felt like my life was over and that I should just get used to living the way I was (in bed crying every day and not having a social life whatsoever in fear of losing control in public). It was a very debilitating feeling and it was having a huge impact on my relationship with my fiancé, family, friends and my career.

I was referred to the RAPS clinic by my doctor and after trying everything I felt like no one would be able to help me, but I forced myself to go. Let me tell you that day changed my life forever. I saw an amazing man named Edward who was extremely understanding and supportive to my needs. He saw that I needed further help than he was able to give me and took me to Lions Gate Hospital where I saw a Physiatrist, Glen Freedman. Edward stayed with me at the hospital and talked to Glen before I saw him and told him my story so I wouldn’t have to repeat myself (which I was very thankful for) he kept coming back over to me and checking up on me, making sure I was doing okay. I felt very cared for.

I sat with Glen for maybe 5 minutes and he was able to automatically pinpoint exactly what was going on with me. He put me on a certain type of medication and within about a month I was fine. I was laughing again, running again, sleeping well, and living my life to its fullness. I still have the occasional feeling of panic, however now I am able to control it. I can honestly say that I have my life back and I will never be able to thank Edward and Glen enough. I owe them my life (literally). I will and have highly HIGHLY recommended the RAPS clinic to anyone and everyone who is going through what I went through. No one should ever have to live their lives like that.

Again a huge huge HUGE thank you to Edward and Glen for making me, me again.
