St. Mary’s move to new tower goes smoothly

The last acute care patient to leave the Main Building at St. Mary’s was also the last one born there.

We knew that March 25 wouldn’t be a “business as usual” kind of day for our staff and patients. But we really hoped that it’d be a day that we’d look back on and tell stories about years from now.

Well as a result of the hard work of so many of the staff, physicians and contractors here at St. Mary’s Hospital, the stories  we tell about March 25, 2013 will be tales of smoothly the day’s move went and how well people worked together.

I was thrilled with the patience, good humour and sense of commitment to our patients displayed by all involved. All of these were a huge part of why today went so well. From patient care staff to physicians, housekeeping to food services, IMITS to DI, Lab to Pharmacy, Facilities to movers: their efforts were noticed and appreciated.

I know there will continue to be blips as we sort through and unpack supplies over the days and weeks to come but I know that all involved here at St. Mary’s will handle those challenges with the same grace as they did on March 25.

Thank you all so much for your hard work.

Gerry
