VCH Open Board forum draws modest crowd

About 60 members of the public and VCH employees learned about work being done in family practice, palliative care and progress being made on the new HOpe Centre at Tuesday’s VCH Open Board Forum held at Lions Gate Hospital.

Dr. Brian O’Connor, the local Medical Health Officer, reported the recent North Shore Wellness Survey shows residents in most North Shore neighbourhoods have a good sense of belonging with their communities, which is an indicator of a healthier community.

Questions from the audience explored topics such as health care planning for increased population, the role of faith-based health organizations and opportunities for retired staff to serve as volunteers.
