Kindness, compassion of LGH staff recalled by Sunshine Coast husband
On Wednesday, November 27th my wife was transferred from St. Mary’s Hospital in Sechelt to Lions Gate. Her condition rapidly deteriorated and we were informed Friday around noon that they would be disconnecting the oxygen and IV’s.
There was no place to move her and we ended up (4 of us) crowded around a single bed in Room 622 for hours. When the nightshift came on, James (the nurse) moved the patient beside Miriam to allow room for us all to gather around her bedside. He brought chairs and water for everyone and checked on us numerous times.
The compassion all the nurses showed us throughout the day was amazing and we were extremely grateful. Miriam passed away around 11 p.m. on Friday night and James called us with the sad news. Honestly, our family could not have coped with all that was going on without the kind intervention and direction provided by the hospital staff.
Please extend our gratitude to the staff on Ward 6 East and ensure they know their actions that day will not be forgotten.
