North Shore Geriatric psychiatric conference brings care professionals from across Lower Mainland

This Friday (Feb. 28), the North Shore will be home to the second annual Geriatric Psychiatric Conference put on by the Older Adult Mental Health Team. Similar to the first event, this year’s event promises to be another sold out opportunity for health care professionals to get new insights into their work with older adults requiring mental health care.  This year’s event has been moved to the Lions Gate Hospital Gymnasium, allowing organizers to accommodate up to 200 participants this time.

The conference is noteworthy not only because of the quality of the programming but also because of its affordable cost for participants: FREE.

A variety of local experts will be donating their time and expertise in order to make the event an interactive, engaging, and fun educational experience. They will be presenting on topics such as:

  • Suicide in the elderly
  • Psychotic disorders in the elderly
  • HART – Hoarding Action Response Team
  • Music therapy – Role in dementia and elder care
