LGH Foundation Gala event smashes $1M fundraising mark

The Lions Gate Hospital Foundation celebrated its annual Gala Fundraiser in style last weekend, raising more than $1 million in funds towards the current CT Scanner Campaign.

“It was a fantastic evening and everything came together perfectly,” says LGH Foundation President Judy Savage. “It was the generosity of all our sponsors, guests and volunteers that made the event as successful as it was,” she adds.

This year’s Gala attracted more than 210 attendees to the Capilano Golf & Country Club venue and featured a number of events including a silent auction, a  live auction and a large number of donations from individuals, their family and even groups of people, resulting in a final tally of $1,007,635 raised.

One of these groups was the LGH Radiology Physicians, who joined forces — with 100 per cent of the radioloists contributing — to make a $50,000 contribution to the campaign. Several other donors matched that $50,000 donation over the course of the evening, with many others chipping in with what they were able to afford.

This year marked the 14th year of the celebratory event, and it’s become one of the most popular events on the North Shore for its fun and fundraising support of LGH. As in past years, a number of LGH staff members were on hand volunteering, helping take care of guests alongside Foundation staff.

“The support we receive from LGH staff and physicians continues to grow and is something we truly value, for this event as well as for our other work throughout the year,” says Louise Campbell, Director of Donor Relations for the Foundation. “We’re all successful when we work together on events like the Gala.”

The next event is the annual Foundation Golf Classic being held June 16.
