Coastal Accreditation: Your feedback has got us through Step One
Congratulations and thank you to those who contributed to completing the first step in preparing for our June 2015 accreditation site visit! In June, we sent self-assessment surveys to teams across Coastal asking them to rate how our services meet Accreditation Canada’s standards.
Your feedback is in, and the results are being compiled for each team. These surveys are an important part of accreditation preparation because, once the results have been compiled and distributed back to each team in the coming weeks, we’ll be ready to move into identifying strengths and areas for improvement.
Starting in early September, we’ll work with each team to use your results to choose top priority areas for improvement that Coastal will work on between now and the June 2015 site visit.
Some of these priorities will target local quick wins. Others will be Coastal-wide, coordinated efforts, such as making sure that our Medication Reconciliation processes are robust and reliable, or rolling out a common way of assessing and care planning for pressure ulcer risks. Whether local or Coastal-wide, these priorities will inform the change ideas that will result in better, safer journeys of care for our patients, and more engaging work for staff and physicians.
Thanks again for taking the time to complete the survey
We appreciate everyone who took the time to complete the online survey. Yes, it was a lengthy one… which makes us appreciate your dedication even more!
We needed the voice of the people who touch our patients’ lives every day to “tell it as it is” around a wide range of practices and you stepped up to the challenge. Without your honest feedback, our self-assessments would not give us the useful information we need to identify areas for improvement and avoid any surprises.
Accreditation is a journey not a destination
Accreditation is a powerful learning tool for ongoing quality improvement and a great opportunity to showcase our leading practices and celebrate the excellence of our staff, physicians and volunteers.
Between June 22-26, 2015, a team of Accreditation Canada surveyors will visit sites in the communities of North Shore, Sunshine Coast, Powell River, Sea to Sky, and including our newest members of the VCH family, Bellla Coola General Hospital, and R.W. Large Memorial Hospital. Read more about accreditation on our VCH Connect intranet section.
