North Van community quilters bring their gifts to deserving LGH babies

Lions Gate Hospital staff were surprised recently when members of the Lions Gate Quilters Guild showed up with more than 30 quilts for babies. The beautifully decorated quilts are handmade by volunteers as part of the Quilters Guild’s Community Quilts program.

In a turn of good karma, one of the women who worked on the quilts and was on hand for the donation is the mother of two children who “graduated” from the LGH Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

“Without their talents and generosity, difficult, stressful, and occasionally tragic times would be so much harder to bear,” says LGH Perinatal Clinical Educator Kelly-Ann Haslauer. “The quilts are a wonderful comfort to both babies and parents.”

“The group also donated a few very tiny quilts for our very special stillbirth babies.”
All of the quilts come with built-in love, as evidenced by the attached label affixed to each of them.
