Fun factor ramped up for HOpe Centre Open House this Saturday
Staff and residents from across the Lower Mainland have been invited to this Saturday’s HOpe Centre Community Open House, taking place from 11 am – 1 pm.
One of the highlights of the day will be the Hug for HOpe — a group hug around the new building involving hundreds of mental health and addictions supporters — that will be happening at 10:30 am. Get involved in this show of strength by wearing blue to the event. Visitors on hand will have a chance to sample some of the new Blenz Cafe’s goodies as well as get a first-hand look at the dazzling new facility.
Live bands bring excitement and fun
For those who are keen on adding some fun and funkiness to their Saturday morning, there will be four live bands playing on site in support of the Hug. These talented artists include:
- Taylor-Rae Poznikoff – a North Shore resident who who is an accomplished country music singer-songwriter/guitar player and just released her first self titled CD.
- Colin Weeks – a talented writer, and guitar player, this North Shore resident is reminiscent of Bruno Mars or Jack Johnson and is part of a group of young North Shore musicians, called Pay-it Forward.
- Emily Bowers and Jim Kwan – Emily is a grade 12 Collingwood student who has performed at the last three Sisters of Soul benefit concerts and a lead soloist for the Top Line Vocal Collective. Guitarist Jim Kwan is the principal of Creativ Music, North Vancouver’s top destination for music lessons and recording.
- Three Town Country – a local guitar trio, led by Bruce Curry, that perform at North Shore community activities in their spare time.
With your help, we can show those affected by mental illness that our community cares and supports their journey. Afterwards, we invite you to take a self-guided tour of this visionary facility during our Open House.
