LGH Foundation produces million dollar baby
Million dollar smiles were on the faces of close to 250 guests, volunteers and LGH Foundation employees after last weekend’s 15th Annual Lions Gate Hospital Gala topped the $1M mark again this year.
“An incredible amount of time, energy and support went into this event,” says Foundation President Judy Savage. ‘The result was a wonderful evening and a huge step forward in the creation of our new Outpatient Care Centre.”
The final total of $1,014,524 (net) will go towards the LGH NOW Campaign to help build a new Outpatient Care Centre and Atrium that will provide improved care for more than 20,000 patients each year.
The expansion, redesign and complete redevelopment of the entire Outpatient Care Centre at LGH will improve access to care, reduce waitlists, plus enhance patient comfort and privacy in some of our crowded services like the Rapid Access Spine Clinic, Pre-Surgical Screening Unit and Joint Replacement Access Clinic.
Coastal Chief Operating Officer Mike Nader attended the Gala for the first time, remarking, “Like the Foundation’s support around the HOpe Centre, their work on the LGH NOW campaign has been so professional and is a truly positive reflection on the hospital and our staff and physicians.”
Volunteers are key to the LGH Foundation’s success and 2015 Gala volunteers (l to r) Carmen Raffa and LGH Oncology Nurse Clinician Pat MacDonald are some of the best.
The 200 guests were treated to dinner at Capilano Golf & Country Club followed by a silent auction, live auction and a Rolex watch raffle. The event was presented by Goldcorp and generously sponsored by Craftsman Collision, Azad & Yasmin Shamji, Donald & Christa McLeod.
