Weeding Out: Forum for youth, parents and health care workers coming up April 19
On Tuesday, April 19, the North Shore Action on Prevention Task Force presents Weeding Out: A Forum for Youth and Parents.
The forum was organized as a response to the upcoming changes to our nation’s marijuana laws that will impact access and regulation of a substance around which there is much confusion, how do we as a community educate ourselves with clear public health information and “weed out” the myths that surround this substance? How do we equip ourselves with the tools and the information to engage in meaningful, honest and respectful discussions with each other, the youth of today and the upcoming generations of youth? How do we support critical thinking for both parents and youth? And lastly, what insight is necessary to support youth and families to navigate the ever changing landscape of marijuana in our community?
The North Shore Action on Prevention Task Force has gathered a number of professionals with diverse views to speak to this issue and inform us on these critical questions.
Panelists include:
Dr. Joy Johnson VP Research SFU, TRACE Project; Jamie Shaw,CEO Canadian Association of Medical Cannabis Dispensaries; Annie Smith Executive Director Mc Creary Centre Society; Dr. John Harding Fellow in Addiction Medicine St Paul’s Hospital; Chris Burt Clinical Director, Hollyburn Family Services; Barbara Moffat Project Director, TRACE Project.
