Progress, passion and patient-focused care: Celebrating 15 years of care
“I remember there was an elderly gentleman who passed away about a year ago from dementia. He was so positive about recreation therapy and enjoyed it so much and was so full of humour. He was like my unofficial assistant to help cheer people up. I miss him.”
These are the words of Rosabel, an activity worker at the Kiwanis Care Centre in North Vancouver, whose story illustrates how health care is all about people.
Rosabel is part of a special celebration that highlights VCH staffers who’ve been with the health authority for 15 years or more.
She, along with 23 other VCH staff, is featured in a travelling photo gallery that comes to Lions Gate Hospital today. The exhibit will be on display in the hospital lobby until November 25.
See their photos and stories and post a comment to celebrate!
Over 15,000 staff and physicians work at sites across our region. Thousands of these amazing people have been at these sites longer than 15 years, before they became part of VCH on December 12, 2001.
Spread the word!
Help us get the faces and stories of these people out there. Print off a poster and put it up in your work area! We’ll also be spreading the word on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram – please share and retweet!
Nominate someone
Obviously, with this campaign, we couldn’t profile everyone who has been here for 15 years or longer. If you know someone doing great work who should be celebrated, nominate them for our VCH News People in Profile! If you want to tell your story and be profiled, use the People in Profile submission form.
