“From the minute we got there, we were treated with kindness and professionalism”

Spending time in the hospital isn’t what most people want to do on Christmas, but for the family of a 12-year-old boy, their experience on the pediatric unit at Lions Gate Hospital was better than expected thanks to kind and compassionate staff members.

Good evening, I wanted to take the time to send an email to compliment the staff on 3 East Pediatrics at Lions Gate Hospital.

My 12-year-old son was admitted after surgery for a ruptured appendix on December 21st and subsequently had to spend Christmas day in the hospital (he was discharged Christmas night!).

From the minute we got there, we were treated with kindness and professionalism. Every single staff member was extremely caring and kind and was able to comfort him even though he was quite scared. They showed myself and the rest of my family the same level of compassion during a very stressful time.

Special thanks must go to RNs Daniel and Sylvia who cared for my son the most. Their high level of experience and expertise was obvious. Their treatment of him helped turn a less than ideal Christmas Day into a surprisingly enjoyable day for our family. Certainly one we will never forget.

Again, I can’t thank the staff enough.

Too often, life just goes on and we forget to give credit for someone’s kindness and hard work. I am hoping that this email will make it back to the Pediatric Unit at Lions Gate.  I truly would like them to know how grateful we are.
