Two dozen apply for new lean QI training program
I am delighted to report that we received 24 applications in response to our call for expressions of interest for our new Lean Quality Improvement Training Program.
We were extremely impressed with the knowledge, skills, and experience of everyone who applied. It was inspiring to see such a high level of commitment to quality care, improved work flow, continuous improvement and professional development.
To help develop a strong, diverse team, Richmond’s Senior Leadership Team used the following criteria when selecting participants for the November intake:
- Competencies reflected requirements;
- Participant’s preference/availability for all sessions in the program;
- Include a mix of front line staff, leaders and managers from various areas; and
- Include one member of our senior team and at least one physician.
All those who were not selected for this intake were encouraged to allow their application to stand for upcoming sessions. The next intake will take place in January 2013. Details will be announced during the Staff Forums in mid November and opened up to everyone interested in applying.
Throughout the Richmond Community of Care, we are focused on continuing to enhance the care experience for our patients, clients and residents. Our goals are to develop the best workforce, innovate for sustainability, provide best care, and promote better health for our communities while using a ‘People First’ approach. To support this work, we are continuing to implement the VCH strategic objective of implementing lean thinking at all levels. We look forward to supporting your development in working with local teams to lead improvement events using lean to enhance care and services throughout our community.
I have personally been involved with Lean for over seven years and am a huge fan of the incredible impact it can have with our staff and the quality of service we offer. On behalf of the entire Richmond Leadership Team, I thank everyone for who expressed an interested in moving into a leadership role as a Lean Quality Improvement Champion.
