The non essential power supply to the South Tower of Richmond Hospital will be shutdown from 8pm tonight (December 13th) until 4am tomorrow (December 14th).
This system supplies power for non essential power and lighting. During this period of time, you can expect to observe reduced lighting levels throughout the South Tower and throughout the ground and second floor of North Tower. Essential lighting will not be affected. In addition, all non essential power receptacles throughout the South Tower will be without power. Essential power receptacles WILL NOT be effected. (red receptacles or receptacles labelled “E”)
We will be operating on generator power to supply all essential power receptacles and lighting to the South Tower, as well as the Operating Room, Diagnostic Imaging, ICU, Rotunda, 2 North, main kitchen and North Powerplant.
During this scheduled shutdown, we will be operating on generator power, however,, we will have the ability to switch back to hydro power very quickly in the event of a generator issue or for emergency surgeries, etc.
Three hospital electricians will be on site for this scheduled electrical shutdown, and they will be in constant radio contact with the Shift Engineer and the Switchboard / Information desk or Emergency /Admitting.
We apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause.
