Read some of the inspiring stories from those who have been participating:
MP – I had wanted to join a weight loss program for months but was having difficulty committing the time to attend sessions weekday evenings. Once I arrived home at the end of the day I did not want to gear up for another activity. The Weight Watchers program started in Sept. at RichmondHospital. Meetings are held at 5 pm in the Park Room off the cafeteria on Thursdays. I joined the Weight Watchers program and have found it to be convenient and a positive experience. The program is easy to use and meeting with others has been very encouraging. Lisa, our Weight Watchers facilitator provides information and does not “tut tut” when the scale may not show the desired results. I have had past experience with being a Weight Watcher member but I did stray away from the program over time. The Thursday work meetings that I now attend are meeting my needs and I am enjoying the program which is the first step towards continued success.
MB – I can find a thousand ways to procrastinate but since weight watchers started up at RichmondHospital right after work – there was no excuse. How convenient, no having to go anywhere else. So I joined and am I glad I did. Lisa is just great as our leader – she makes things fun and interesting and she is very informative and she herself has been through the program so she “walks the walk”. It truly is easy to follow and no I don’t feel deprived or say I can’t have something. It is working for me. I am steadily losing the weight and people are starting to notice. Makes you feel good and gives one the incentive to carry on. I highly recommend joining if you are sitting on the fence. It is a great group of people and we support each other (and have some laughs to boot).
HP – Weight Watchers offers a tremendous amount of invaluable support, education and great everyday ideas on how to gain control over your weight. With all these healthy skills in hand, you are then more equipped to have success!
KB – Weight Watchers has provided a framework to look at food differently and how to make long term changes rather than try to conform to a “diet.” It has enabled me to incorporate long term changes and the weight loss is gradual and significant at the same time.! I’d recommend it to anyone wanting to make changes in what they eat and how they approach food.
KS – This program has helped me change my bad eating habits and learn a much healthier way to live and eat. The support of the group is great. It is inspiring seeing others reach their goals and it encourages me to keep at it.
CC – We are health care providers and learn every day about what creates illness or good health. I can see the results of lifestyle choices in our patients and clients. I knew my own risk factors were increasing but felt so stuck. Self care is not at all easy when we are so focused on the needs of others. I decided the best thing I could do to support others was to feel younger, more energetic and empowered myself. At first I followed Weight Watchers On Line by myself and achieved good results. However, over time I found my motivation was sliding. The WW at Work group has been a wonderful advance. It’s so great to have mutual encouragement from co-workers not only at weekly meetings but throughout the workday. Now some of my family members are also following the program. I am healthier myself and much less worried about them. I am proud to help inspire them. Together we are amazing!
