Christa Schneider, the new president of the Richmond Hospital/Healthcare Auxiliary, is a big fan of Albert Einstein’s famous quote “Logic will get you from A to Z. Imagination will get you everywhere.” She believes that with this in mind, the Auxiliary can accomplish anything.
One of the key goals for her two year term is to increase the visibility of the Auxiliary in the community so residents know who they are and understand what they do, and are more likely to support the Auxiliary through volunteering or shopping at the Thrift Shop as well as the Gift and Tuck Shop.
Certainly Christa’s rapid ascent to the presidency could not have been imagined three years ago when she walked into Richmond Hospital for her first volunteer shift. But last weekend she was sworn in as the 25th president of the 50-year old organization during their Annual General Meeting.
Christa is quick to point out that her position is not a solo act but depends on a team performance, and she is delighted to be working with her fellow board members:
- Clare Dhillon – Immediate Past President
- Deb Turner – Membership Chair
- Lorna Krassie – Treasurer
- Lyn Anderson – Corresponding Secretary
- Evelyn Weber – Recording Secretary
- Wendy Willians – Public Relations
The commitment of the Richmond Hospital and Healthcare Auxiliary is to help improve patient comfort, care and service by being able to fund programs such as music and recreational therapy at Richmond Hospital, Minoru Residence and Richmond Lions Manor, in addition to funding items on the hospital’s “wishlist” of requested equipment.
