Richmond Accreditation 2013: Checking two client identifiers
Check out the July issue of the Richmond Accreditation Newsletter to find out more about the ROP on Checking two client identifiers before providing care.
In this latest issue, we continue our tour of the Required Organization Practices, ROPs in preparation for our accreditation site visit. Find out how Accreditation Canada measures our compliance with checking 2 client identifiers as well as a number of helpful tips to test your knowledge:
• Are we meeting the ROP at VCH-Richmond? Yes, here’s how….
• Examples of care activities that require you to check 2 client identifiers
• A list of approved client identifiers
• Questions the surveyor could ask during the visit
As you now know from the June Newsletter, ROPs are the essential patient safety practices that help protect our clients from serious harm. The surveyors will spend the majority of time observing the great work you do every day, while taking the time to talk with staff and patients as a way to confirm that we meet the tests for compliance.
Another major area of focus for surveyors is around our medication safety practices. Check out the bulletins by the Richmond Medication Safety Committee on what Richmond is currently doing to ensure that we meet the accreditation requirement. You’ll find them in the Fact Sheets section of our Richmond Accreditation site on VCH Connect.
Stay tuned for the inside scoop on more ROPs and why they are important guideposts on our Quality Journey . . .
