The greatest gift of all

In the spirit of the holiday season, we share with you two touching stories from hospital patients which remind us that the greatest gift of all is the gift of good health. Both stories were recently published in the local Richmond newspapers.

In the Richmond Review story, you’ll meet Louie, the Richmond artist, who sees every day as a gift, especially when painting with watercolours with his young granddaughter. When he was diagnosed with cancer, Louie was told that he might have only two years to live – that was four years ago. He says he doesn’t think it was really a mistake.

“I think that confidence is a very important part of treatment, and I have full confidence in the people here at Richmond Hospital.”

The Richmond News carried the story about long time donors to the Richmond Hospital Foundation, Balbir and Rajvinder Hayer, who believe in supporting good causes and giving back to their community. Each year they put aside a portion of their savings for vacations, and then donate that money to charity. As part of those savings, they recently made a large donation to Richmond Hospital Foundation for a continuing education fund for the medical team.
