The following note was sent yesterday by Rich Dillon, program manager of Emergency, Short Stay Unit & Cast Clinic, Cardiopulmonary Services & Neurodiagnostics, General Internal Medicine Clinic:
I wanted to take a moment to say how proud I am to work with such a fantastic team.
Despite having over 70 + patients in the ED yesterday, support came from all over the hospital to ensure we were able to provide the best care to our patients.
I would like to thank the emergency staff for such an amazing job with a critically ill young child. Your composure and attention to the patient and his mother was amazing.
Thanks to so many people but especially:
- Thank you to Eron who came to support in the ED and Ashifa who took the SSC pager during this time.
- Thanks to Natalie who came from PACU to work in the cast clinic so additional patients could be seen.
- Thanks to the RT’s and Dr. Draper for their great work with the sick child.
- And to Catherine, who did an absolutely outstanding job as the ED PCC. She kept control during such a challenging time.
The teamwork I witnessed today clearly demonstrates the commitment not only to our patients, but also to our peers.
I have repeatedly seen collaboration like this over the past several weeks as we have dealt with increases in volume and acuity. I recognize this has been a challenging time, however, I want to assure you that all your hard work has not gone unnoticed, and that it is truly appreciated.
Thank you all for such great work!

Last year I was admitted to the ER a couple of times and I never thanked the staff on 2 South, 3 South, on 6 North, and of course in the ER for their conmpassionate care. All the Doctors and the Nurses deserve my deepest admiration for how you looked after me.One might not appreciate the care you all provide for the patients at RH until one ends up in the ER. Now I am not saying we should be ending up in the ER, but it definitely provided me with a different perspective. You all are exceptional and excellent at what you do. I am so proud to be your co-worker. Thank you all a million and hopefully see you all as a co-worker and not a patient.
Thank you all, again!!!

I would personally like to thank, a number of staff, who were there to help me Jan. 21st, Elaine from 5 north, who ran to get me help. Sally SSC. Frank the SSC. who jumped over counter to help me. Maria, Fonz, Shannon from emerg admitting, who really stepped up. And all the staff in emerg. that looked after me that day. You are a wonderful team.
Once again, thank you, to all of you!

So, so proud of you guys! This is the kind of “Always Here” stuff that our accreditation surveyors don’t necessarily get the privilege to witness in their short time with us, but that we know happens all the time. What an awesome place to work, and to get care at. Congratulations!

Sending a Valentine’s Day “shout-out” to Manager John Con – we will miss your smiling face every day here at the hospital. You were such a pleasure to work with – we wish you all the best on your trip to Africa, and the exciting new journey of retirement ahead of you!
