6 North wins Hand Hygiene trophy

Congratulations to the staff and physicians on 6 North who earned the highest hand hygiene compliance rate for the month of August . . . an impressive 83%!

This is the culmination of many months of hard work by 6 North staff after a successful Lean Rapid Process Improvement Work (RPIW). The addition of extra hand hygiene stations, understanding the audit process and always using “Clean In – Clean Out” and “Clean Then Glove” techniques have really made a positive difference.

The achievement earned Pam Baker and her team the coveted hand hygiene trophy along with the new VCH sunglasses and sandwich keepers as small tokens of appreciation for the great work. 6 North is motivated to keep the trophy as other units have indicated their determination to win it back next month.

VCH has a bunch of new swag in addition to the monthly candy that fills the cup on the winning unit, so take note all you potential hand hygiene trophy suitors.
