Auxiliary marks a year filled with accomplishment

The Auxiliary wishes to say that, in 2014, we once again lived up to our mandate to provide comfort and care in the healthcare system within the community of Richmond.

Our 2014 projects included:

• Funding of a piece of equipment for the Richmond Hospital lab. Called Cellavision, this technology will help with the faster identification of diseased blood cells and allow for speedier diagnosis and treatment.
• Funding for furnishings and equipment for the Patient Lounge and Activation Room. These rooms are well used and benefit the patient by encouraging them to leave their rooms, walk to the areas and participate in any activities that maybe offered in these rooms.
• Funding to allow for the purchase of equipment for a Dental Clinic to be run by the UBC Dentistry Program. This clinic will operate within the Minoru Residence and the residents and their family members are pretty pleased. This clinic will also serve seniors in various other facilities in the Richmond Community.

These three projects were provided for over-and-above the regular funding for:

• Music and Rehab Therapy at the Hospital, Lions Manor, Minoru Residence.
• Perinatal Care at the hospital.
• Regular maintenance of the Lions Manor and Minoru Residence vans.

As President, and on behalf of all auxiliary members, we look forward to 2015 being another successful year.
