Food Bank needs wool donations
Even though it’s barely spring, the Richmond Food Bank is already gearing up for its Winter Relief Program.
In addition to edible goods, the Richmond Food Bank routinely includes a warm wool scarf, toque and gloves into the December winter packages of clients who need a bit more support.
Knitters also needed
About 1,000, 6-inch wide x 60-inch long scarves are specially knitted each year for the give-away. The Tzu Chi Foundation participates by adding toques and gloves to the package.
Unfortunately the person who supplied the knitted scarves has moved away, leaving the Richmond Food Bank looking for donations of wool (leftover and new) and willing knitters. A knitting class is even in-the-works for those who would like to lend a hand, but need to learn how to knit first!
