Two letters of Kudos for care in Richmond’s ED
“She explained everything that was being done for me”
I just want to pass on a compliment to the staff at Richmond Hospital’s Emergency Department; in particular to the doctor who took care of me, Dr. Hudson.
On Friday, April 24, early evening around 6 p.m., I was brought into the emergency by ambulance for a medical problem. First, I know it was very busy at that time, but after being looked at, and after having blood taken, I did have to wait for almost three hours to be examined by this doctor. But she was extremely helpful with a very good bed side manner. I found Dr. Hudson very thorough and she explained everything that was being done for me.
Just wanted to say Thank You to Dr. Hudson and the entire Emergency Department staff who took care of me. Great service.

Taking the time to listen and “giving people hope”
I live near Richmond Hospital and I go pretty often there because of my parents’ health issues. All the staff is great, but back in December when my I went to emergency bringing my mom, a cardiologist came and he was very pleasant and funny. He made my mom feel better with his jokes.
A few weeks ago, I went back with my mom for an ECG and the same guy took care of my mom. I told him I remembered him from emergency and we started taking. My mom was telling him how afraid she was for her coming surgery and how our family doctor didn’t care at all. This cardiologist was listening to us, he even got a copy of the list of family doctors taking new patients for us.
I hope all doctors can be like him. He makes people feel comfortable and relieved, he makes people smile at the worst moments, he gives people hope. I don’t know how to thank him, that’s why I’m taking time to write this letter. I had time to look at his name. His name is Dr. Hamid Mirhosseini.
People like him deserve an award for his great service. I believe a lot of patients will agree with me, but no everyone will take the time to write their experience. Please give a big THANK YOU to him. I hope all the staff can be like him. Hospitals and patients need people like him. I hope the hospital will give him an award as he deserves it.
