A Voice Systems Upgrade begins late on Friday, Dec. 4 and runs through 6 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 5 at Richmond Hospital, Minoru Residence and 8100 Granville Avenue.

Voice Systems Upgrade happens tomorrow at midnight tomorrow

Telephone and voice mail systems at Richmond Hospital, Minoru Residence and 8100 Granville reside on infrastructure that is nearing its end-of-life.

As such, a systems upgrade will take place between the hours of 11:59 p.m. on Friday December 4  to 6 a.m. on Saturday, December 5 at Richmond Hospital and Minoru Residence.

8100 Granville will be upgraded on Saturday, December 5 from approximately 4 a.m. to 6 a.m.

What will happen?

During the upgrades, telephone, fax and voicemail systems will be taken offline. All impacted sites are instructed to implement their emergency downtime procedures for the duration of the upgrade work.

The project team has worked closely with the impacted sites, leading up to this week’s work, to plan for the downtime, mitigate potential risks, and ensure leaders and staff are well supported.

We’ve got a plan

A User Readiness Package, containing instructions and a cell phone directory, was circulated to managers and staff on Monday, Nov. 30. Temporary cell phones were distributed to critical areas at the bed management meeting yesterday, Thursday, December 3.

Please note:

  • Incoming calls made to main hospital numbers during the upgrade times will be directed to temporary phones at the Switchboard Office.
  • During the night of December 4-5, the Switchboard at Richmond Hospital will be staffed and receiving all calls. Calls will not be transferred to the Emergency Department.

Please familiarize yourself with the User Readiness Package if you are scheduled to work during the upgrade times.

Questions or concerns?

The upgrade is being completed during non-peak hours to minimize impacts to patient care. For more information, please speak directly to your unit manager.
