The 7th Richmond Hospital Dental Day saw a team of volunteers help 32 people who are unable otherwise to access regular oral care.

RH puts smiles back on grateful faces

The 7th Free Dental Clinic held Saturday, November 14 at Richmond Hospital put smiles back where they belong.

“There were 32 very happy people who received a broad range of dental services on the day,” said Belinda Boyd, leader, Community Engagement.  “This makes a tremendous and positive impact on the clients and they tell us how very grateful they are.”

Thank Yous all around

So many people give so much to ensure the clinic was successful.

  • THANK YOU to Dr. Doug Nielsen and his wife, Susan, for their generosity in ensuring these clinics occur.
  • THANK YOU to Dr. Bill Brymer of the UBC Faculty of Dentistry and the amazing students who gave so much time and care to the patients.
  • THANK YOU to the local dentists and denturist who gave their Saturday to provide excellent care to a very needy group of individuals.
  • THANK YOU to our wonderful community partners who identified the clients for the clinic.
  • THANK YOU to Lisa Enns for collecting the names and confirming the screening times and facilitating clients getting to their appointments on the Saturday.
  • THANK YOU to Leanne MacPhee of Sodexo who kindly donated the food, both breakfast and lunch for the students, dentists and volunteers.
  • THANK YOU to Patti Etkin and Terry Krahn and the volunteers who supported the clients at the clinic on Saturday.

There are also some behind the scenes people who contributed to the day — Facilities and Maintenance for ensuring all was ready, the Engineers for making sure the power for the generators was good-to-go, Crothall staff for the extra garbage collection and cleaning, and Paladin Security for their support.

The clinics, held twice yearly, have provided dental care to more than 150 people since they began three years ago.
