RNABC honours Pat Agon-Chen
Congratulations to Richmond Public Health Nurse Pat Agon-Chen who, in late November, was recognized with an Award of Excellence in Nursing Practice by the Association of Registered Nurses of British Columbia.
This award recognizes Pat’s outstanding performance as a member of the nursing profession and demonstrates the high level of respect that she has achieved among her colleagues across the province.
Thank you for your work
In her letter of congratulations to Pat, Richmond Chief Operating Officer Jennifer MacKenzie wrote the following:
“Thank you for all you have done to promote health for new mothers and healthy early childhood development for infants, and in particular, for creating the successful postpartum parent infant drop-in groups for ethnic Chinese new immigrants and their families.
Through your nursing practice and professionalism, your work helps women meet the challenges of new motherhood, in a new country, with all its different postpartum customs and traditions. Importantly, you’ve also found a way to involve the inter-generational family in these new learnings.
As a result, this People First approach to your work ensures that children are nurtured in supportive and healthy environments, and that extended families have the necessary tools they need to achieve these outcomes together.
Again, congratulations on your well-deserved win, and thank you for so ably translating how VCH’s People First philosophy can be applied in innovative ways to benefit our various client groups.”
Congratulations on your award, Pat. Moms and babies across Richmond are healthier because of the work you and your colleagues do across the CoC!
