Think C-M-S: Capacity Management Suite Upgrade on April 26
The Regional Bed Management System across Richmond Hospital, which is commonly known as RBMS, BMS, Bed Board and Bed Management, is being upgraded to the new Capacity Management Suite (CMS) on Tuesday, April 26 at 0700.
Think C-M-S
The CMS is used by a variety of disciplines, including Access and Bed Control, Admitting, nurses and nursing unit clerks, environmental services, and clinical educators. The system provides access to real-time bed capacity and demand, tools, and automated processes, which will help to minimize patient waits, delays and diversions, and maximize the flow of patients through our hospital. This upgrade at Richmond Hospital marks the beginning of a larger initiative that will see implementation of the CMS across Vancouver General and UBC Hospitals on June 7.
The CMS is easier to navigate and introduces a number of exciting features, helping us to provide our patients with the best care by ensuring they get the right care in the right care setting at the right time.
Follow these steps and get trained now!
To ensure staff are comfortable navigating the CMS, they must complete online training relevant to their area of work. In fact, you will not be provisioned with your user account for the new system until you have completed it.
Here’s how to get trained:
- Check that your own (i.e. not generic) health authority network ID is working. Note that if you can’t log into a workstation with your own network ID, you must contact the Service Desk at (604) 875-4334 to have your password reset. When you complete your CMS online training, you’ll be asked to provide your network ID so you can be provisioned with access to the new system.
- If you haven’t already, create a Course Catalogue Registration System (CCRS) account.
- Register for CMS online courses in the CCRS at https://ccrs.vch.ca.
- Enter “CMS” in the Course Search field and select the online course for your role.
- Complete all of the online course requirements.
Remember the CMS goes live at Richmond Hospital on April 26 at 0700. Be sure to confirm that your health authority network ID is working and complete online training as soon as you are able.
