Biomedical Waste Segregation & Recycling Training a success
On Thursday, October 20, two Biomedical Waste Segregation & Recycling Renewal training sessions in the Ralph Fisher Auditorium at Richmond Hospital.
These sessions were held to provide staff education on proper waste segregation, improve health and safety, and reduce waste quantity and costs. Topics covered included how different types of biomedical waste is categorized, how to properly dispose of the different types of waste on the unit, what happens to the waste during end processing and the impact that each of us can have on proper waste handling.
An estimated 30 people attended the fun and informative session, and had the opportunity to meet VCH’s BioWoman, Teri Guimond, and our Sustainability Coordinator, Sonja Janousek. Together they engaged people to think about waste and recycling, talk with each other and to ask questions.
We hope that everyone enjoyed the session and found it interesting and informative. Thank you for attending!
